Forums such as the COP (Conference of Parties) invite countries to collaborate on research, development and implementation of technology-based solutions. Facing this challenge, public education regarding water management and sustainable agriculture is very important. Educational programs can provide an understanding of efficient irrigation techniques, as well as the importance of maintaining water ecosystems. Local initiatives that engage communities in water conservation can also create collective awareness of needed changes. It is clear that global drought is a complex challenge that requires a multidisciplinary approach and global awareness. With synergistic cooperation between government, the private sector and society, the possibility of achieving effective solutions is greater.
