The Masters leaderboard
It’s high drama on the last day at Augusta. Will Rory McIlroy exorcise the demons of this course and win a green jacket to complete his career Grand Slam? Find out live with USA TODAY’s Masters scores as they come in from Augusta National.
A bogey at the par-three 13th takes him to one over, but he makes a great birdie putt at the par-four 14th to stay just three shots back of the lead. McIlroy then plays a magnificent second shot over the pine straw at the long par-five 15th, an approach which goes through a gap and almost follows the tree line to the green. He lands his chip within two feet and holes the putt to move to 12 under for the tournament.
Bryson DeChambeau is the only player in the field to have two rounds in the 60s at The Masters so far, but he isn’t even in the lead on 12 under after his second round of 68. He’s tied with McIlroy and a pack of contenders which includes Corey Conners, Scottie Scheffler and Ludvig Aberg.
It’s a day of legends at The Masters. Among the honorary starters is Sam Snead, a winner of nine Masters titles and an inimitable presence on the golfing stage. Other legends who have teed off at The Masters include Jock Hutchison and Fred McLeod, who were the first to start this tradition in 1963. In later years, legends like Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player took the honourary tee spot. The tradition continues to this day, although bad health prevented Lee Elder from taking part in 2021.
