For two weeks late in the summer, Flushing Meadows in Queens becomes a center of tennis. The Billie Jean King National Tennis Center hosts the US Open, where a field of competitors dwindles until only two remain to battle it out for a grand-slam title in women’s singles, men’s singles, doubles and mixed doubles. The tournament also includes wheelchair tennis (on years when it’s not part of the Olympics) and juniors.
If you’re looking for a great deal on tickets, it’s best to monitor ticket availability throughout the day as prices are constantly changing (for example, the initial release is often sold out within hours). It’s also a good idea to sign up for resale notifications at Ticketmaster and Stubhub; this way, you’ll be notified when prices drop significantly and can quickly snap up a ticket if your plans change.
Don’t miss qualifying week (Monday Aug 18-Thursday August 21), where 128 of the world’s top male and female players compete to earn spots in the main draw singles draws. This is when major risers like 2021 women’s champion Emma Raducanu first make their mark – it’s also free for all fans to attend and watch practice sessions!
