The equestrian sports at the Asian Games are subject to the rules of the FEI. As a member of the FEI, the AEF is committed to provide all necessary guidance and assistance to national federations for organising and conducting their equestrian sport at the Asian Games. This is also reflected in the AEF statutes.
The Organising Committee of the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi city and Aichi prefecture, Japan, marked the 1,500-day countdown to the Games on Thursday. In a development that will give cricket-crazy Japan some relief, the organisers of the Asian Games have decided to include cricket as a medal event. It is a big turnaround from last year when cricket was expected to be dropped in favour of baseball, which is easier to play on the oval-shaped ground compared to a diamond field for cricket.
A total of 11 esports titles will be included at the Asian Games, four more than at Hangzhou 2023 and including variants of League of Legends and PUBG. India is well placed to contend for medals in the esports events, with Pavan Kampelli winning bronze in eFootball and S8UL making it to the semifinals in PUBG at the Asian Games qualifiers. The inclusion of the esports events will boost the Games’ social media reach with the esports competitions scheduled to be streamed live across Asia.
